Hopkins Dog Sketches

Hi,
this one above i was playing a little with anatomy, kind of giving me time as i waited for the live animals poses.  The tiny drawings were based on quick glances at the moving animal.  By having the drawing small it made it a little easier to try to capture the overall gesture of the pose.

here i'm starting to use a little shadow.

Because the animal moves very quickly sometimes i try to use just a part of the pose that my eye registers, like say the front arm is in front of the other and then combine that with freestyling the rest of the pose.
here's i'm starting to have fun with situations and a little acting with the pen.

Happy sketching
Nate

I highly recommend Ken Hultgren's books.  They were really inspirational for learning more about anatomy.
