A couple 3D modeling construction tips

Hi,

I was working on a personal project today and i found these couple workflows very helpful.

1. can use maya's grids and screenshot capture tool to get matching side and front drawings.  This is very helpful for making design adjustments.  Just need to first take a screenshot of the side of character with grids on, the size doesnt really matter.  Then in orthographic front view and with the side drawing up next to maya window, can use the pan in Maya to match up the grid lines.  Then when they match can slide over the window and take a screen capture of both the side and front.

2. its very helpful to use locators and joints to help block in the anatomy of the character.  Today i was working on a quadruped and i first blocked in anatomy with locators, then with joints, then i parented some geometry to joints to begin the design process with.

I hope you find these tips helpful.

cheers,
Nate
