Hi,
Here i modeled a simple set in zbrush and brought in set and character into blender.
With lights on in blender character was pink (so fix was to remove uv map in data tab).
For modeling of set mostly used insert cube, plane and sphere. I used polygroup masking (ctrlt+shift+m) to be able to duplicate elements. I also used isolate object (ctrl+shift+click) to isolate elements. Also used move and click curve brushes. I needed to scale the character to fit set (s).

updated layout hotkeys in blender:
Layout
alt+z to preview lighting in scene also under properties>shading set to GLSL
g z z to zoom in out selected custom camera (g x x, g y y other axis)
shift+f to rotate camera of selected custom camera
ctrl+alt+0 to match custom camera to perspective camera
ctrl+0 make selected camera/light active object
. frame selected
0 go to viewing from active camera
5 5 go to viewing perspective camera
